A Small Guest List

You are not obliged to invite everyone to the party.  Invite only the celebrant’s nearest and dearest.  This way you will be able to keep the spending to a minimum.  The fewer the guests, the smaller the party expenses.

DIY invites

There are a lot of online resources available for creating invitations.  Most of them are free and offer cool and festive designs.  You can even skip printing invites and just send them via emails instead.

Bake the Cake

It just takes a few hours and some online research to make an amazing cake.  The good thing is that you can choose the ingredients and the design of the cake.  This is very important especially if the celebrant or guests have dietary restrictions or food allergies.  It’s better to be 100% safe than sorry.

Printables as Decor

A quick online search is all that you need to create cute and vibrant printables.  You can also go straight to Pinterest and select the designs you like.  The best part is that it’s free.  Let your creative juices flow and design some unique and customized party decor.  A few clicks and your birthday party decor is ready to use.

Cheap Party Supplies

Your local dollar store has everything you need for a birthday party on a budget.  From tablecloths and utensils to gift bags and party favors, the dollar store has you covered.  Browse the shelves and see how many cool party supplies you can get for cheap.

Timing is Key

If you have a birthday party at 5 p.m., then be prepared to serve dinner.  It’s also the same thing for lunchtime parties.  Inviting people over at the time they’re used to eating means that they expect you to feed them.  Don’t worry.  You can serve them finger foods or choose a time when people have already eaten like 10 am or 3 pm.  Whatever time of the day you go with, do serve snacks to your guests.  That way you can still save money without starving people.  Some guests might have traveled far for the party, some of them might be even from Morgantown, WV.  Be wise but be considerate too.

Go Old School

Drop by your local craft store and get some non-toxic paints, photo frames, custom letters, or wooden figures.  This is a wonderful idea for a fun birthday party for kids.  This keeps them busy for hours and you don’t have to buy party favors.  Everyone goes home happy and you get to save some money in the process.

A limited budget doesn’t mean that a fabulous birthday celebration is unattainable.  You just need to be creative in your event planning to have an amazing birthday party.
